Honor Roll: Injuries in the Line of Duty

These officers have suffered severely disabling or career-ending injuries in the line of duty.


 
 

Officer Charles Thomas

McKeesport Police Department
Date of Injury: February 6, 2023

Officer Charles Thomas was responding to a domestic-related disturbance call and sustained a gunshot wound to his face after encountering the suspect on Grandview Avenue in McKeesport. Officer Thomas was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital and is now recovering at home.


 
 

Trooper George E. Hare, Jr.

Pennsylvania State Police
Date of Injury: October 29, 2014

Trooper George E. Hare, Jr. was hit by a moving vehical on State Route 119 while clearing debris from the highway. He sustained multiple injuries as a result and will need rehabilitation for months if not years to come.


 
 

Trooper First Class Brad Wilson

Pennsylvania State Police
Date of Injury: September 26, 2013

TFC Bradley Wilson sustained gunshot wounds after being struck in the neck and upper torso by two bullets.


 
 

Officer Tony Mcintyre

Corry Police Department
Date of Injury: August 23, 2013

While making an arrest, Officer Mcintyre sustained traumatic injuries to his face that have required surgical intervention. He is off work for an unknown amount of time.


 
 

Officer Morgan Jenkins

Pittsburgh Police Department
Date of Injury: April 11, 2013

Officer Jenkins sustained a gunshot wound to the spine that has left him paralyzed.


 
 

Sergeant Ralph Miller

Baldwin Borough Police Department
Date of Injury: February 11, 2013

Sergeant Miller sustained an accidental gunshot wound to his back while respondng to a call at a home where a man had threatened to hurt himself.


 
 

Officer Jim Kuzak

Clairton Police Department
Date of Injury: April 4, 2011

Officer Kuzak sustained gunshot wounds to the chest, arm and side which severely injured his lung and spine.


 
 

Sergeant Daniel Hahn

Cranberry Township Police Department
Date of Injury: February 14, 2011

Sergeant Hahn sustained back and other injuries when he fell more than 20 feet from a highway overpass while chasing a drunk driving suspect.
